Swedish is a North Germanic language, rooted in Old Norse. It began in Sweden and parts of Finland. Today, about 10 million people speak Swedish, mainly in Sweden and parts of Finland. The language has evolved over time, influenced by other languages like German and French. Norwegian and Danish are the closest languages to Swedish. They all developed side by side and have many similarities. In fact, Swedes, Norwegians, and Danes can often understand each other when speaking their native languages because of these similarities.
